DESCRIPTION:
This project was the new construction of a 66-square-meter accessory dwelling unit, built on a property with an existing two-story single family residence. The ADU was designed with large openings focused on the south-western facade to maximize the natural light and air flow throughout the building. The double height living space and loft-like sleeping area make the most of this openness. The wide opening sliding glass doors allow the outside area and the garden to be used as an extension of the living area and create a much greater sense of space. This also enables the residents of the new unit to meet and communicate with the residents of the original house.
