Detroit has been, and remains, a place where we find ways to get things done. Our grit, determination, and resourcefulness have been ingrained from decades of wandering the ruins. The ruins of buildings. The ruins of communities. And we find a way to build again. We persist.
Often we find a way from within the rubble. We seek the radical ecology evoked by Slavoj Zizek; we seek to discover the aesthetic potential of waste. We will embrace change through initial repurposing of existing material, continual modification over the life of the project, and ultimate disassembly.
