School of the Arts

The School of the arts began as an exploration of ‘unaccepted streets’, conditions in which had been abandoned by the city of San Francisco for various reasons – grades were too steep, they had been erased by infrastructure – and were left as voids and ghosts in the landscape. These provided opportunities for intervention.  A GIS analysis showed the correlation between existing schools and high speed motorways.  The resultant school project was also an attempt to slow motorists through awareness and other devices.
